Unique Testing
Each year, farmers ask which is the best catch crop species to plant for autumn, winter or spring production? Based on our experience we recommend stubble turnip, rape, ryegrass, vetches or a combination of these species.

Very little work has been done in the last 10 years to confirm the differences between species or between varieties. In 2000 Oliver's sowed their 1st comparative trial. The results helped produce the product range we have today.

Yield, Quality + Utilisation
The trial measured yield and digestibility of the forage produced, as well as disease resistance and hardiness. We also measured preferential grazing and degree of utilisation - the ultimate indicator of how well a crop has performed. Oliver Seeds are committed to continuing this type of trial on a regular basis to maintain a better selection of catch crops than our competitors.
