Red Clover mixtures for higher protein and reduced nitrogen input

The advantages of Red Clover are not always realised but in summary, offer three times the yield of a large leaved White Clover.

This yield comes at a cost however, as the species is not as persistent as White Clover and is therefore best used in 2-4 year leys.

A long, penetrating tap root allows Red Clover to withstand drought and be suited to lighter soils.

Balancing Grass and Clover

Clover as a species can be very aggressive when Spring sown, especially Red Clover. This can prevent grass plants establishing as well as they should with a consequent imbalance in the resultant sward.

Our Hi-Pro mixtures contain less Clover seed in the Spring than in the Autumn, therefore, the balance is controlled for you from the start.
